Truly a work of art. I am going to frame it. Many Thanks. Keep ‘em coming.

  3. UkeForever Says:

Hobbit! I’m shocked you didn’t pick up the error. The lead is in C and should be in G. Either the song should be transposed to C or the lead notes changed to begin with the G on the 2nd string!

My website has the explanation on an .mp3 (above).

  4. Drew Says:

Ghost of Bob Marley says you are wrong. Also, other chords exist which are similar, on guitar– http://thetabworld.com/Bob_Marley__Redemption_Song_guitar_chord.html

  5. Marley Fan Says:

I tried the mp3 out from Uke Forever and it did sound off. The comic tabbed out version sounds really well to me.

More Uke Club Strips Please! Thanks!

  6. UkeForever Says:

C’mon guys, read the music. This isn’t very tough. The lead on the TabWorld begins with a “G”. You know–E string, third fret–a “G”. Then the song goes on in the key of G. That works. Bob recorded the song live (from Legend and Uprising) in the key of G. I am not disputing your chords, but the solo lead that is in the wrong key.

The lead above begins in “C”. You know, 0-fret, third string on a GCEA uke is a “C”. Therefore, to use the lead the way it is written here, you must play it in the key of C. Otherwise, it doesn’t work. No, the song was not recorded in C, but if you are going to play the lead in the key of C, you must follow up with the key of C chords. If you play the above solo with Bob, it will most definitely be “off”!

The third example on the .mp3 is an octave up from the recording. So if it sounds “off,” to you, that is probably why. The uke in GCEA CANNOT play the solo in the same register as the guitar.

The difference between the tone of the comments here and in the parallel postings on yirmumah.net is pretty funny. But the fact that you’re now attracting the heavyweights of the larger Internet uke community (or at least names I recognize) to something you may have begun on a fluke — literally, guessing from what the ninja is carrying in the Iggy Pop comic — should have you pretty proud.

And speaking of those names: One of the most helpful Internet uke resources I ever came across was something Howlin’ Hobbit put together running through many of the most common chord progressions in lots of different keys. The link is http://www.howlinhobbit.com/docs/uke_chord_progressions.pdf . You were looking for good Internet resources to feature, and this one is definitely worthwhile for the utter novices you convinced to pick up the uke (like me).

  8. Drew Price Says:

I definitly have to add Howlin Hobbit’s links here… there are some other great links I gotta add as well when I get time.

  9. Jon Says:

Holy crap … nearly live feedback, too. What’s next — foot massages?

  10. UkeForever Says:

The new url in my name above should clear this up. I use pieces of Bob’s recording. Your lead starts in C; his in G. You have to change the chords (what I would recommend at this point) or the lead tab to be accurate.

  11. Drew Price Says:

Well, if you want to go ahead and re-tab the intro to your way, I’ll add it. Go for it bro!

  12. Drew Says:

Here is UkeForever’s version of the intro for those who’d like it:

    A 0 2 3 7 5 2 0 2 5 2 3 2 0
    E 3 3 3 3
    C
    G

I just played both versions for 5 people in the room, who had no idea what I was doing, I just said, Listen to these two lead ins and tell me which you like better— and they all liked our Uke Club deeper sounding intro better.

Ghost of Bob Marley likes it this way on the Uke, mon.

  13. UkeForever Says:

Then transpose the song to C!

I have a video from the Paris Hilton movie on my website. To bad it got relased onto the net for everyone to look at. She did not want it to be released as it was her ex boyfriend Rick Salomon that leeched it.
